The welders come in Red or Yellow paint finish. Both are made by the same factory and branded differently for varying markets but are the same machine.
The WSE-160 is a single phase 240 Volt machine that ships with a 20 Amp plug . The welder has dual purpose AC/DC Pulsed TIG and Stick welder modes and comes complete with everything required to start welding immediately out of the box. Before you ask, YES...IT WELDS ALUMINIUM, it has AC and DC output . In fact it can weld pretty much any alloy. This unit can deliver a full 160 Amps to your work piece or as little as 10 Amps subject to the setting you have on the current adjustment knob. In stick mode the max output is 160 Amps which will enable the use of 4mm electrodes. The power source weighs 26 kilos so is quite easy to carry around. The total package weight as shipped is close to 35 Kilos.
The unit has a built in gas solenoid valve . What this means is that the shielding gas ( argon ) is connected to the rear of the machine whilst the gas supply to the gun is connected at the front panel. When you wish to weld, the solenoid allows gas to flow down into the gun. Have alook at some of the cheaper machines on the market and you will see they do not have a solenoid as there is no gas connection for the TIG gun on the front of the machine. With the cheaper ones you have to control the gas manually. In the WSE-160 the pre flow time ( the time gas flows for before and arc is initiated ) is adjustable along with the post flow time ( length of gas flow after welding ceases ). Gas is activated when you hit the trigger on the TIG gun along with the high frequency arc initiator.
This unit has welding current parameter controls.
- Current Up Slope - The time you set for the current to go from zero to the setting on the current selector knob ( 0-5sec )
- Current Down Slope - The time you set for the current to go from weld setting to zero ( 0-15sec ).
- Pulse Width - The width of your weld pulse in time ( 5-95% of Frequency )
- Pulse Frequency - The frequency of the weld pulses ( 0.5-200 Hertz )
- Pulse Peak Current - The welding Current ( 10-160Amps )
- Pulse Background Current - ( 10-96Amps )
- Gas Pre Flow Time - Time gas flows befor welding ( 0-2sec )
- Gas Post Flow Time - Time gas flows after welding to cool electrode ( 0-30sec )
- Pulse peak Time 2.5 Milliseconds to 1 second
- Pulse background Time 2.5 milliseconds to 1 second
- AC Square Wave Frequency Range is 10 to 200 Hertz
This unit has a high frequency arc initiator . What this means to you is that you do not ever need to touch the Tungsten electrode to the work piece to get an arc started because a high frequency arc starter is built in. The less sofisticated TIG units require a scratch start or lift start. Scratch and lift arc starting may contaminate your weld. Not to mention it is cumbersome.
